Gardening Proverbs
Gardening Proverbs are full of wisdom and not a little wit. They are found all over the world and in all times from the distant past right up to the present day.
Case #1: Growing up I remember my grandmother having the most beautiful garden; roses, daisies, lavender... you name it she had it. Just reading a Gardening proverb, I can almost smell her sweet perfume and hear her calling me for supper. It may sound a little corny, but we all have things that trigger our memories. Anything gardening does if for me.
Although my grandmother grew up in the city (Kaunas, Lithuania) she always dreamed of having a farm, or at lease something in the country. Her thought's were consumed with making this dream a reality. She even nicknamed my older sister "Bitute" - which means "little bee." Now that may just be a coincidence, but I don't think so.
Case #2: The Huntington Library...if you haven't been, it is a must, no matter your age. When my sister and I were young, we remember often having guests visiting from out of town and the Huntington Library near Pasadena, California was my grandfather's favorite place to take them. With it's beautifully kept grounds, it's variety of every blooming living thing you could imagine. Every one of your senses was delighted. I never wanted to leave. Luckily, I knew I'd be back in a few months with my grandfather and another lucky visitor!
Gardening Proverbs can take you back to another place in time...
